SJ Valiquette 1
Max D'Ambrosio .5
Danielle .5
We have the February, March and April Slams for you to rack up points towards qualifying to the Semi-Finals and Finals in May.

These are the results-
Aaron Simm - 4
Scott Thompson - 2
Tom Fowler - 1
Shahin Mohammadi - .5
Zoe Duhaime - .5

Anarchy Slam Results- July 9th 2014
Hello Poets and Audience Alike,
Unexpectedly, here are the results of the Anarchy Slam.
Rules were broken. Props were used. A head was bared. Cover poems/lines were recited. Steven Wright was quoted. Some poets were other poets. Others went overtime. One poet broke the rules by not coming to the stage or even being in the building- how crazy is that?
It was sort of chaos, but not really, as Erin Cotton did her usual fine job of hosting, breaking the rules by liking the poets and their works, and also by covering a poem containing the words Lady Lazarus.
These are the scores, likely mis-spelled and mis-heard.
(Pam sacrificed herself with her party girl piece)
Scott- 'cuddling jisme'
Max- 'angry Tiberius rabbits'
Margaret- 'head pea'
Keenan- 'soviet ninja turtles'
Katherine- 'Sherry is caring'
Dan- 'a big Waldo sandwich'
Jacob- 'scooby snacks'
Justin-'-' (no score for the man who wasn't there)
Tom- 'Tom Arts fuzzy ribcage'
Annie- 'the end of times is the best of times'
Kevin- 'puppy dreams'
Eva- 'light speed Danny Devito'
Elysia- 'were-wolf bro-dick'
Personally, since this is anarchy and I can be personal for once, my favourite line of the night was when Erin called out- 'Is that my beer?!'
Hope to see you all again on Wednesday August 27th at Lacey Lou's.
You're a fine bunch of persons.

2014 Vic Slam Finals -Results
jubilation and sadness, folks.
our slam season has wrapped up, and that's sad. what will we all do on Thursdays!?
and our venue, the Solstice cafe, which has been an anchor, has grown too small for us, like a pair of shoes on a 3 year old. we say the shoes are too small, but we mean the child's feet are growing and it's a very confusing notion, isn't it? we're seeking out a somewhat larger venue and we'll let you know where it is once that is sorted.
jubilation is also in our hearts because last night, May 30, 2014, a new Slam Team was born. ah, and it was a beautiful birth. there was a lot of heart at the VEC last night. if you weren't there, well, find someone who was and ask them for some of the glorious details. there was many a beautiful moment.
and the team, you wonder, who is on the Team?
here we go -
in order from first place to fifth place-
Erin Cotton!
Jeremy Loveday!
Elysia Glover!
Annie Lepage!
and Scott Thompson!
well i was there and i saw what they did, i saw it with my own 2 eyes- and they each deserve huge congratulations.
bet you can't wait for October. Victoria is hosting the 2014 Canadian Festival of Spoken Word this year. the dates for that are October 13th to 18th, and you're all gonna wanna be at Alix Goolden on October 18th, trust me on this.
check Tongues of Fire on facebook for events for summer 2014.
we're working on that.

APRIL 2014 SLAM RESULTS
Hello Poetry Fans,

Many thanks to all the volunteers who make all this possible. Here's a list of the poets in both rounds and the places the winners took.

March 2014 Slam
Hello All,
It's coming up to the end of March which means there is just one slam left, in April of course, before the semi-finals and finals in May!
Last night was another wonderful and loud evening at our fine host cafe. The most beautiful person in the room, Jacob Arts, hosted and there were words, like, everywhere. Also numbers, of course, as it was a Slam. I had my first experience of keeping track of those numbers as the official scorekeeper (while Julia did her regular spectacular job of timekeeping).
I, ahem, need to insert an apology here. In my rush to tally the 2 rounds, I made a small mistake and the 4th and 5th place positions were mixed up. Not meticulous of me at all. Time crunches stress me out, but I did enjoy my new little job and will try to get better at it.
Without further ado, the places for last nights lovely poets.
(Oh, and if I spell any of your names wrong, I do apologize! Please either add a comment or come see me at the Solstice Cafe any Thursday evening and I will make the appropriate corrections.)
Hope to see you all at the Solstice soon!
1st - Keenan Proud
2nd - Elysia

Vic Slam Indies
On December 5, Victoria Poetry Project held the Vic Slam Indies. The night was hosted by 2 Dope Boys in a Cadillac, and saw eight of Victoria's best spoken word poets compete for the chance to represent Victoria at the Canadian Individual Poetry Slam which takes place April 5-12 in Vancouver. The poets, who competed by invitation only, were Scott Thompson, Audrey Cockett, Pam Stewart, Morgan Purvis-Bellamano, Matthew Christopher Davidson, Justin McGrail, Keenan Proud, and Jeremy Loveday.
After four rounds of poetry, the incredible wordsmith Audrey Lane Cockett walked away the champion!
Audrey will be representing our fine city this Spring. Truly, we could not have asked for a better poet to rep our talents. Audrey has already made us so proud that she is a member of our incredible community. Congratulations, Audrey, and congratulations Victoria!
